What is a PK battle on TikTok LIVE?
PK / battle — a PK (player kill) battle is a timed head-to-head LIVE match in which two creators compete for the most gifts from their audiences.
Reviewed
A PK, also called a battle, is a short competition that two TikTok LIVE creators start together while both are live. The screen splits in two, each creator keeps streaming to their own audience, and a score bar shows which side has received more gift value. When the timer ends, the side with the higher score wins the round.
The score is built from the gifts viewers send during the match. That is why a battle turns into a call to action: creators ask their audience to send gifts so their side pulls ahead, and the closing seconds are usually the busiest. The score of a battle is a gift tally for that match only. It is not the creator's daily or weekly leaderboard score and it is not money.
In the public data we have looked at, a standard battle lasts about five minutes, and a battle record carries an identifier, a start time, the opponent and the running scores for each side. Only some live rooms are in a battle at any moment, and in a small sample we looked at, roughly a third of the live rooms had one. Treat that as a rough impression rather than a rate.
People often confuse a battle with a leaderboard. A leaderboard ranks creators over a period such as a day or a week, while a battle is a single match between two creators. Diamonds earned in a battle still count towards a creator's normal totals, because they come from the same gifts. Toktik does not rank battles; it shows the public leaderboards, and the battle is a way creators generate the gifts those leaderboards add up.
Why it matters for agencies: battles are a common tactic for growing a creator's gift income, and reading them correctly helps you avoid over-reading a single spike. A creator who wins many battles in a day will rise on the daily board, but one strong evening says little about the weeks that follow.
Questions
How long is a TikTok LIVE battle?
Standard battles we observed last about five minutes. TikTok can offer other formats, so treat five minutes as typical rather than fixed.
Do battle gifts count on the leaderboards?
Yes. They are ordinary gifts, so the diamonds they earn feed the same daily and weekly boards. The battle score itself is only the tally for that match.
