What is Enigma on TikTok LIVE? Hidden gifter names

Enigma mode is a privacy option that TikTok offers to viewers. In the public data we read, an account in this mode appears on LIVE surfaces under a generated name that starts with the word Enigma followed by a short code, for example in a room's viewer list or a gifter list, instead of its real handle. We have seen that name change between observations.

For anyone reading gifter data this matters, because an Enigma name is not a handle. Searching it as an account returns nothing, and because the generated name changes, the same person can show up under different Enigma names. That is why a gifter shown as Enigma on a leaderboard cannot be opened as a normal profile from that name alone.

Toktik treats the setting as a choice the user made. Where the public data lets us tell which account a gifter is, we show that account's handle. Where it does not, the row says the handle is hidden instead of displaying the generated name as if it were an account.

What stays visible is the gift activity itself: how many diamonds were sent, to whom and when. A gifter board therefore stays accurate in total even if some top rows have a hidden handle. If you are comparing boards across tools, expect the same person to appear under different names in tools that display the generated name as a handle.

Enigma mode is separate from a gifter level badge. The level badge shows how much a viewer has spent on gifts, and Enigma mode only affects how the viewer's name is shown.
